Verse 1
namāmīśvaraṁ sac-cid-ānanda-rūpaṁ
lasat-kuṇḍalaṁ gokule bhrājamānam
yaśodā-bhiyolūkhalād dhāvamānaṁ
parāmṛṣṭam atyantato drutya gopyā
To the Supreme Lord, whose form is eternal existence, knowledge, and bliss, whose shark-shaped earrings glisten as He shines in Gokula, who in fear of Mother Yashoda quickly flees from the wooden mortar, and who is caught from behind by her swift pursuit—to Him I offer my humble obeisances.
Verse 2
rudantaṁ muhur netra-yugmaṁ mṛjantam
karāmbhoja-yugmena sātaṅka-netram
muhuḥ śvāsa-kampa-tri-rekhāṅka-kaṇṭha-
sthita-graiva-dāmodaraṁ bhakti-baddham
Seeing the whipping stick in His mother's hand, He cries and rubs His eyes repeatedly with His two lotus hands, His eyes full of fear. The pearls on His neck tremble as He breathes rapidly with sobbing. To this Supreme Lord Damodara, bound not by ropes but only by pure motherly love—to Him I bow down.
Verse 3
itīdṛk sva-līlābhir ānanda-kuṇḍe
sva-ghoṣaṁ nimajjantam ākhyāpayantam
tadīyeśita-jñeṣu bhaktair jitatvaṁ
punaḥ prematas taṁ śatāvṛtti vande
By such childhood pastimes He drowns the inhabitants of Gokula in pools of ecstatic bliss, and reveals to those absorbed in knowledge of His majesty that He is conquered only by pure intimate devotees. With supreme love, I offer hundreds of obeisances unto Him again and again.
Verse 4
varaṁ deva mokṣaṁ na mokṣāvadhiṁ vā
na cānyaṁ vṛṇe 'haṁ vareṣād apīha
idaṁ te vapur nātha gopāla-bālaṁ
sadā me manasy āvirāstāṁ kim anyaiḥ
O Lord, though You can grant all boons, I do not pray for impersonal liberation, nor eternal residence in Vaikuntha, nor any other boon. My only desire, O Lord, is that this childhood form of Yours as a cowherd boy in Gokula may ever be manifest in my heart. What need have I of any other benediction?
Verse 5
idaṁ te mukhāmbhojam atyanta-nīlair
vṛtaṁ kuntalaiḥ snigdha-raktaiś ca gopyā
muhuś cumbitaṁ bimba-raktādharaṁ me
manasy āvirāstām alaṁ lakṣa-lābhair
O Lord, Your lotus face, framed by soft dark red curls and constantly kissed by Mother Yashoda, glows with red bimba-fruit lips. May this vision of Your lotus face always be manifest in my heart. Millions of other attainments are of no value to me.
Verse 6
namo deva dāmodarānanta viṣṇo
prasīda prabho duḥkha-jālābdhi-magnam
kṛpā-dṛṣṭi-vṛṣṭyāti-dīnaṁ batānu-
gṛhāṇeśa mām ajñam edhy akṣi-dṛśyaḥ
O Supreme Lord, O Damodara! O infinite Vishnu! Be pleased with me, O Master! Drowning in an ocean of worldly sorrow, I am fallen and destitute. Please shower Your glance of nectar upon me, deliver this fallen soul, and become visible before my eyes!
Verse 7
kuverātmajau baddha-mūrtyaiva yadvat
tvayā mocitau bhakti-bhājau kṛtau ca
tathā prema-bhaktiṁ svakāṁ me prayaccha
na mokṣe graho me 'sti dāmodareha
Just as You liberated the two sons of Kuvera (Nalakuvara and Manigriva) from their tree bodies while tied to the mortar, and bestowed upon them devotional service, please grant me Your own ecstatic love (prema-bhakti). For impersonal liberation, I have no desire whatsoever.
Verse 8
namas te 'stu dāmne sphurad-dīpti-dhāmne
tvadīyodarāyātha viśvasya dhāmne
namo rādhikāyai tvadīya-priyāyai
namo 'nanta-līlāya devāya tubhyam
O Lord Damodara, I offer my humble obeisances unto the brilliant rope that binds Your abdomen, the abode of the entire universe! I offer my respectful obeisances unto Srimati Radharani, Your most beloved, and I bow down unto You, the Supreme Lord of unlimited pastimes!
